I taught at North End Middle School for many years. Ledonia was such a treasure - a Teacher's Teacher. Generations of students were lucky to have her, even if they didn't like to admit it then. We always knew when she was leading her class down the hall. You heard her trademark catch-phrase before anything else. Kids talking too loudly in the hall and disturbing other classes? Someone says something out of line or offensive? Someone tries something out of line or offensive? Regardless, the response was "'Scuuuuse me, Ms. Gray!" If it was really questionable, the catch-phrase became an incredulous question with her voice rising at the end. "'Scuse me, Ms Gray?" Now I live in Florida and that is one of my fondest memories of North End. She will be missed.

To the family of Mrs. Gray, she was such a precious woman. I will never forget her beautiful smile and her warm words growing up as a child at Zion Baptist Church. Mrs. Gray was a joy to be around and all you could feel was her love.
My deepest sympathies,
Shari Matthews-Wilson

Mrs Gray was a very caring , no nonsense kind of teacher. She was a woman who carried herself with respect therefore she demanded respect without ever saying it ! I can honestly say I really began to appreciate her once I had children and came in contact with some of their teachers. She was definitely one of a kind and she most definitely made an impact in my life, for that I will be forever grateful. RIP Mrs Gray
Sending my deepest sympathy and prayers to her family

Ledonia was my colleague at North End Middle School. Our classrooms were in the same hallway. She was a remarkable woman and an inspiring teacher. She made me laugh . Excuse Ms. Gray! She practiced tough love with her students with an emphasis on”love”. And just knowing her and watching her made me a better teacher. She is missed and will always be remembered by those of us who were lucky enough to know her.
