Obituary of Beatrice Dominici

Beatrice Dominici, 87 Beloved Mother and Nonna As Italian opera played gently and a spectacular rainbow shone overhead, Beatrice Anatolia Bernardini Dominici passed away peacefully on May 23, 2020 while surrounded by her loving family at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was an elegant, intelligent, and selfless woman whose capacity to give was outweighed only by the gratitude she expressed toward everyone around her. Above all else, Beatrice valued spending time with her family and would always light up with joy whenever she saw her children and grandchildren. She was never able to express enough how proud she was of them and their accomplishments. Beatrice was born on September 3, 1932, daughter of Lello Bernardini and Maria Luisa Marcelli of Rome, Italy, where she lived and was educated until she became married in 1957 and moved to the United States. Upon settling in Waterbury, Connecticut, she worked first as a seamstress before achieving a career in rate gyro supervision with Timex/Bendix in Middlebury and Cheshire, where she excelled until retiring in 1992. In her free time, she enjoyed yearly trips to Cape Cod with her closest friends, spending time eating seafood dinners specially prepared by her son in Rhode Island, sharing the knowledge and culture of her country with her grandchildren, and enjoying the tranquility of the sea. She cherished many simple pleasures such as Christmas dinners with her family, admiring her daughter’s decorations and gardens, and driving around town to see holiday lights and magnolia trees, which were her favorite. Predeceased by her husband Guido Dominici and her brother Fulvio Bernadini of Italy, her remaining family and friends stayed close to her throughout her life. She leaves behind her children Richard Dominici and wife Linda of Wolcott and Roberta Torselli and husband Steve of Prospect, and her grandchildren Anthony and Angela Dominici and Michael and Mark Torselli, who will continue her legacy of compassion, wisdom, and grace. In this time of spring and rebirth, we ask that you think of Beatrice each time you see a magnolia tree or budding flowers that brought her so much happiness in life. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Vincent DePaul Mission of Waterbury or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. A memorial mass will be announced at a later date, and burial will be private.
