Obituary of Eva Mae McWilliams

Called to Bless: October 21,1922 Called to Rest: June 22, 2020 Eva Mae McWilliams blessed her father & mother Doll(Baby) and Willie Hoffler with her presence, on October 21st, 1922 in Gatesville, NC. While enjoying her life in Gatesville, she was joined by her brothers Herbert Hoffler, Alfonzie Hoffler, Elton M Hoffler and her sister Grace(Hoffler) Jobe. She then moved to Norfolk, VA; where she caught the eye of Willie McWilliams, whom she married and welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Elizabeth (McWilliams) Gaston. But before moving to Waterbury, Connecticut, she added one more blessing to her life, Anthony (Vodka) Hoffler. Once settled in Waterbury, she became a member of Zion Baptist Church where she would continue her spiritual journey. At Zion Baptist she kept busy as a member of the Outreach Program, Usher Board, Missionaries and many church activities. As a hard worker of Uniroyal, Sherwood Medical, and The Greenery Convalescent Home, she made life long friends. Eva had many titles: daughter, wife, mother, friend, co-worker, sister, aunt, and cousin, but being a grandmother to her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great- grandchildren was the title that gave her the chance to sit back and watch the roots she planted grow. If you were blessed to cross paths with this beautiful child of God, it would be an encounter you wouldn't forget, because she talked to you like she had known you for years. She always made sure that a strong relationship with the Lord was important, a greeting and a smile went a long way and family is everything and everyone is family. We love you and we will miss you. "Our Matriarch is now an Angel" A Graveside Service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 2 at New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. There are no calling hours. Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd, Prospect is assisting the family with arrangements.
