Obituary of Peter T. Corbett, Sr.

Peter T. Corbett, Sr. made it “on time” to attend the Christmas Ball in Heaven with the love of his life, Priscilla (Charette) Corbett his wife of 40 years. He passed comfortably on 12-25-2018 after fighting the good fight.

He was born in Waterbury on 6-2-1937 to his late parents William and Rose (Brown) Corbett who emigrated from Ireland and Scotland respectively. Peter was proud of his heritage and lived the courage and resiliency of his ancestry. He attended St Francis Xavier Grammar School and Leavenworth High School. He proudly served his country in the US Army and National Guard. He was a self-employed graphic arts designer, printer, commercial photographer, a member of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Corp. Peter, a self-taught carpenter, built his own home and was always working on a project. He shined when his family gathered at his home and enjoyed the fruits of his labor. He was passionate about equality, justice, protecting the earth, and helping those less fortunate.

Peter is survived by his sons Peter Corbett and wife Colleen and James Corbett, and daughter Sherri (Corbett) Rainingbird, grandchildren Stephen Corbett and wife Krystina, Jennifer Corbett, Ericka Corbett, Mallory and Stephen Frois, and Cailin Corbett, and great grandchildren Hannah, Raina, Maelea, Abylina, Eliah, Callum, and Bennett, sisters Joan (Roland) Veronneau, Alice (Joseph) Hanley and Mary (Andrew) Buccheri   

Peter was predeceased by his sisters Frances Smith and Margaret “Peggy” Escobalis.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Jega, the loving compassionate care teams of

the West Haven VA Hospital, Vitas, family and friends for their care and support.

The funeral will be held at 11 am on Monday December 31, 2018 at St. Anthony Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Prospect Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 -10:30 am on Monday at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect.
