Obituary of Kristen Furs

Kristen Lise Furs, 41, of Middlebury, passed away after a long illness on December 27, 2018 at Hartford Hospital.

She was born on March 16, 1977, in Waterbury, daughter of Ed and Wendy (Neal) Furs. Kristen was a 1995 graduate of Pomperaug High School. After receiving her Associates Degree from Johnson and Wales University, she worked in the travel and banking industries. Kristen also volunteered for the March of Dimes and Safe Haven of Waterbury. She also helped to support patients for the American Liver Society. Kristen had a passion for singing karaoke music and embraced anything from the 80’s. She shared a love of sports with her family, always cheering on the Yankees in the family rivalry. Kristen made sure to share her love and passions with her daughter Kyla. She instilled in Kyla the importance of volunteering and giving to those in need. Kristen never passed up an opportunity to show Kyla how to have the most fun out of life.

Besides her parents, Kristen is survived by a daughter Kyla Furs, a brother Eric (Kati) Furs of Wolcott, VT, and their children Elian, Harper, and Ruben. She also leaves aunts and uncles Nancy (Ernie) DeFrancesco of Cheshire, Peggy (DAK) Neal of Winsted, Sandi (Mel) Austin of Winter Haven, FL, and Dennis (Elaine) Neal of Middlebury, along with cousins Tracy and Heather Hunihan, Dan and Monika Neal and Steve and Dave Austin.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Middlebury Congregational Church, 1242 Whittemore Road, Middlebury. There are no calling hours. Burial is at the convenience of the family. Prospect Memorial Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Hartford Hospital for the kind and compassionate care Kristen received for the last four years.
