Prospect, CT – Diane Mary (Fortier) Lauber passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 23, 2019.   She was the beloved wife of William Lauber, Jr. for 40 years.

She was born July 16, 1959 in Waterbury, CT a daughter of the late Lucien and Annette (LaMadeleine) Fortier.

Besides her beloved husband William, Diane is survived by; her son William Lauber III, his wife Ashley and their children William and Tate; her daughter Michelle Peterson, her husband Henry and their children Sara, Evan, Abby and Owen; her brothers and their families, Maurice, Lucien, Robert, Denis, Raymond and George; her sisters and their families, Cecile who was her God Mother, Theresa, Noella, Helen and Anne Marie; and an Uncle Richard LaMadeleine, who was her God Father.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Leo, Richard and Charlie.

Diane was an elected Tax Collector for the past 30 years for the Town of Prospect.  She became a Certified Connecticut Municipal Collector in 1989.  She was a member of the Connecticut Tax Collectors Association, the New Haven County Tax Collectors Association and Northeast Regional Tax Collectors Association. 

She was also an active member of the Prospect Republican Town Committee.  She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church and her strong faith was evident in everything she did.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, most especially her family and friends.

Her favorite vacation spots were Aruba, Myrtle Beach and Lake George.  She loved being at the beach and watching her grandchildren play in the water and collecting seashells.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Doctor Jeffrey Orell, Doctor  Joyce Chung and the Connecticut Hospice Team especially Rebecca, Diana and Vivette.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 at 9:30 am at Saint Anthony’s Church, 4 Union City Rd, Prospect. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will immediately follow in Prospect Cemetery.  Calling hours will be Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 4 pm to 8pm at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd., Prospect.  Memorial contributions may be made to Seymour Pink Inc., P.O.
