Edward Gendron, Sr.

Obituary of Edward Gendron, Sr.

Edward Gendron, Sr., 92, of Waterbury, surrounded by his devoted family, passed away on November 1, 2019 at Vitas of St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the devoted and loving husband of the late Marie (Hartford) Gendron for over 50 years.

He was born on April 1, 1927 in Hartford son of the late Otto “Frederick” and Violet (Fournier) Gendron. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during both WW II and the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, Ed managed the B & R Manufacturing Company in Wolcott. Ed’s happy place was Cape Cod and Cold Storage Beach, S. Dennis, MA, where he and his good friend Lenny Vaudreuil were known as “Mayors of the Beach”. Some of his favorite pastimes were swimming in the ocean and sharing his Cape home with friends and family. Ed spent many hours sitting on his deck admiring his flowers and watching the birds as they fed from his 5 feeders. Our hearts are broken by the loss of this wonderful man.

Ed is survived by his children Cynthia Gendron, Gail Christian, Maureen Giusto and husband Gary Sr., and Edward Gendron, Jr., grandchildren Ashley, Kelsey and Brendan Christian, Patrick Giusto and Kiersten Giusto-McGovern and husband Christopher. He also leaves six siblings Milton Gendron, Barbara Wheeler, Diane Desrochers, Joan Cersale, Jacquline Swirdowsky and Jeanette Tegolini along with several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter Patricia Ann Gendron, a grandson Gary M. Giusto Jr., a brother Earl Gendron, and two sisters Beatrice Grenier and Ruth Fortier.
