Obituary of Salvatore Commendatore

Salvatore “Sal” Commendatore, 83, of Waterbury died unexpectedly at home on February 1. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Commendatore. Sal was born June 17, 1936, in Waterbury, a son of the late Alfio and Pauline (Gervasi) Commendatore. He was retired from Uniroyal Chemical Division and was a devoted husband and father and a loving grandfather. Sal proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed golfing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Sal leaves two sons Steven Commendatore of New Haven and David Commendatore of Waterbury. He also leaves his two grandchildren, Cristina Commendatore of Trumbull and Eric Commendatore of Cape Coral, Fla.; two great-grandsons; and a sister Rose Borgeson of Cheshire. He was predeceased by a son, Christopher Commendatore; two sisters, Theresa Duren and Connie Blancato; two brothers, Nat Commendatore and Frank Commendatore; and several close friends who were like family. Prospect Memorial is handling Sal’s funeral arrangements. All services are private and at the convenience of the family.
