Obituary of Barbara J. Jones

A Loving wife, mother, and sister. Barbara J. Royster Jones, 70,wife of Larry Jones, departed this life peacefully at her home on March 15, 2020 surrounded by family. Barbara was born in Oxford, N.C. on March 13, 1950. Barbara received her education in Oxford N.C., and was baptized at Stovall Baptist Church. She was a former employee of 7-11 Convenience Store and retired from Sears Department Store at the Brass City Mall Commons after many years of service. Barbara enjoyed gardening, feeding and watching birds, collecting bird houses, cooking, listening to music and dancing. Besides her husband, Barbara leaves her daughter Sharma Johnson of PA., two sons Jeffery Royster of Maryland and Eric Johnson of West Virginia, one step- daughter Lakeisha Trent Wilson of S.C., a brother Isaac Royster Jr. of Va., three sisters, Edith Royster-Gooch and Etta Royster both of Waterbury and Malinda Royster-Currin of Virginia. She leaves four grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins and a long list of friends. The family would like to thank the Hartford Healthcare Hospice Team and Smilow Palliative Care. The State of CT mandates concerning COVID 19 will be adhered to. Calling hours are from 9am to 10am at the Church, family and friends will meet at the church at 8:45am. Burial will be at New Pine Grove Cemetery. The Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect is assisting the family with arrangements with James R. Sanders, Funeral Director.
