Obituary of Michael Sagnella

Loving Brother , Uncle and Friend On Sunday, May 24th, 2020, Michael “Mike” Sagnella of Waterbury, passed away in the comfort of his home at the age of 60. Mike was born on November 5th 1959 in Waterbury, CT to the late Anthony and Lucille (DiSapio) Sagnella. Mike attended the Waterbury Public School System, graduating from Kennedy High School. He received his baking degree from the American Institute of Baking in Kansas, and a certificate in cake decorating from the Dunwoody Industrial Institute in Minnesota. He went on to work for Costco Company in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Hawaii. An avid fan of all sports, a passionate runner and long-distance walker, Mike was known for his outstanding athletic abilities and admired by family and friends for his endurance and determination. He had a gentle and compassionate spirit, a tender heart, and a benevolent nature. He enjoyed hot weather, barbecues and the beach. He will be remembered for his thoughtfulness, loyalty, loving disposition and hearty laughter. Mike is survived by his siblings Chick Spinelli (Billy), Paul, Anthony (Maritza), Mary-Ann (Franco Palmieri), Thomas (Brenda), Nancy Cipriano (Fran), 18 nieces and nephews, several cousins, and two godsons, Frank Rinaldi and Jake Soden. Due to the current pandemic, all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael Sagnella Memorial Football Scholarship Fund at Kennedy High School (422 Highland Avenue, Waterbury, CT 06708).
