Loving Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend John Carlos Leonardo, 30, of Waterbury passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday May 31, 2020 after a brave fight with cancer. John was born October 30, 1989 in New York City, a beloved son of Rafael and Felicia (Manzueta) Leonardo. John loved sports, especially basketball. He coached for the PAL, the police camp for kids. John loved movies, particularly those about superheroes and spending time with his favorite cousins. John was a happy and loving person and wanted to leave a message of positivity behind. He wanted everyone to remember to love one another and cherish the moments that we have together.His legacy of positivity will endure with those who had the gift of knowing and loving him. Left to remember, honor and cherish his memory are his parents Felicia and Rafael, his sister Kiomairys and a nephew, Joshua,many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. All current government restrictions related to COVID 19 will be adhered to, specifically less than 49 people will be allowed in the funeral home, all mourners must wear masks and maintain a 6-foot distance. Temperatures will be taken at the door. Families by household will be admitted to the parlor, pay their respects and exit to their vehicles. Calling hours will be held on Thursday June 4, 2020 from 9 am to 12 pm at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd., Prospect. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
