Obituary of Betty Lou Foley

Beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother Betty Lou (Zimmerman) Foley, age 78, of Prospect passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 19, 2020 at VITAS at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT She was the loving wife and best friend to Ronald Foley Sr. for 56 years. Betty Lou was born May 24, 1942 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Aaron and Betty (Tressler) Zimmerman. Betty Lou was a Prospect resident for close to 50 years and was active in the Prospect community. She served on many boards and organizations including Prospect Women's Club, Friends of the Prospect Library and was also a clerk for many years for the Inlands Wetlands Commission. She was the second director of the Prospect Senior Center and was a friend to all that knew her. BL was very proud of her time spent as a Rainbow Girl where she achieved the level of Worthy Advisor and was awarded the Grand Cross of Colors. She returned to college as her children were grown and worked hard to earn her Associates degree from Mattatuck Community College. She was a devoted mother to her three children and was an effective kitchen table counselor which earned her the tile of second "Mom" to many of her children's friends. Betty Lou leaves behind her husband of 56 years Ronald Sr.; her daughter Colleen Neidt and husband Scott of Thomaston,CT and their children Heather and Cassandra; Son Ronald Jr and wife Mary of Waxhaw, NC and their children Augustine and Stella; son Sean and wife Suzanne of Wellesley, MA and their children Liam, Oliver, and Amelia; and sisters Sharon Curran and husband Kevin of Millersville, MD; Jacqueline Schwaber and husband Robert of Westfield, MA;and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were like family. Betty Lou is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers George Zimmerman and William Zimmerman. Funeral Services for Betty Lou will be held on Thursday June 25, 2020 at noon at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd. Prospect. Burial will immediately follow at Prospect Cemetery. A calling hour will be held prior to service on Thursday from 11 am until the time of the service. All CDC and Government Covid -19 precautions will be strictly adhered to: If you are not feeling well please do not attend. Please wait for an attendant to call you to the entrance of the funeral home. You must wear your mask at all times, temperatures will be taken prior to entering. Your attendance and support are greatly appreciated. We request that all visitors refrain from handshakes, touching and hugging and express your condolences simply by crossing your arms across your heart.
