Obituary of Sophie DuBicki Sampieri

Sophie C. (DuBicki) Sampieri, 90, of Prospect passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on July 26, 2020. She was the widow of Delphio J. Sampieri Jr. She was born September 6, 1929 in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Alexander and Catherine (Casparoni) DuBicki. Sophie is best remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She was a talented cook, gardener and loved to read and crochet. Sophie was a member of The St. Anthony’s Ladies Guild and the Alter Society. She also was a member of the Prospect Senior Center and Friends of Prospect Library where she served as a Historian and Treasurer. She is survived by two sons Paul Sampieri and wife Marie of Prospect and Thomas Sampieri and wife Susan of Litchfield, three grandchildren Daniel Sampieri, Brianna Harrington and husband Iam, and Danielle Sampieri, along with several nieces and nephews. Sophie was predeceased by an infant daughter Debra Catherine Sampieri, three brothers Walter, Adolph and Alexander DuBicki and two sisters Jane Cotton and Alice Vaillancourt. The family is extremely grateful to her wonderful caregiver, Gifty Lawson-Addo, who took very good care of Sophie over the last year. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Friday, July 31, 2020 at St. Anthony Church, 4 Union City Rd., Prospect. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery.
