Obituary of William Wright Jr

William Toby Wright Jr. was born on December 26, 1962 in Syracuse, New York to his belated mother, Mary Ellen Baker (Walter) and William Toby Wright, Sr. Toby completed his earthly mission on July 26, 2020. Toby was a dedicated athlete and engaged in competitive sports for swimming and bodybuilding his entire life. During his youth, Toby’s athletic ability caught the attention of Syracuse University which resulted in an invitation to participate in the Junior Olympics. He was very compassionate about education and took a special interest in philosophy while studying a wide range of teachings from Christianity to Islam. As a young adult he later relocated to Waterbury, Connecticut to be closer to his family. Toby was exceptional in the way he shared his love and affection with his family and friends in a special way which earned him the title of “Our Big Loving Teddy Bear”. Toby is survived by his sons, Rahim Wright and Malik Wright, his grandchildren, Zi’aire Wright and Jayvion Wright, his brother, Vance D. Wright, his Uncle, Major Hill, Aunts: Cynthia Hall, Theresa Hill, Lucille Hill-Broadnax, Bernice Hill, Lisa Hill-Whittaby, niece Latoya Stallings, great niece Nyla Frazier, great nephew Mekhi Stallings and many other cousins and friends. A graveside burial service will be held on August 1, 2020 at 9:30 AM at New Pine Grove Cemetery located at 850 Meriden Road, Waterbury, CT 06705, followed by a private repast for the family. All mourners are to meet at the graveside. Attendees are required to wear masks for compliance with the State of CT Covid 19 precautions. The family has entrusted Prospect Memorial Funeral Home located at 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect, CT with all graveside burial arrangements.
