Obituary of Coralyn Maia
Coralyn “Cora” Maia, 45, of Waterbury passed away peacefully on Monday, November 2, 2020 at the Smilow Center of Yale New Haven Hospital. She was born on June 13, 1975, daughter of the late John P. Santos, Sr. and Mildred J. (Wright) Maia.
Cora graduated from Wilby High School, class of 1993. She worked at the United States Postal Service for 15 years, a deli shop and various other jobs. Most recently, Cora was in the process of compiling a cookbook with her very own recipes.
Cora treasured time with her family, especially video calls with all of her nieces and nephews. She loved cooking all of our favorites and would prepare it for us in a moment’s notice. Cora was a very loving and caring person and was always there for many of us in need, whether to give a hug or listen and say everything will be ok. She remained positive even in the most challenging times. She loved playing cards and had several special relationships with family and friends.
Cora is survived by five brothers; Michael J. Santos of CA, Douglas W. Santos (Carolyn) of MA, John B. Maia, Jr. of Waterbury, Querino J. Maia (Diane) of Watertown, Shawn Alexander Maia of Southbury and five sisters; Rita L. Munn, Victoria Maia, MaryJean Williams, Terri L. Maia and Elizabeth Manning (Robert) of Waterbury. Cora was predeceased by a brother, John P. Santos, Jr., a sister, Carol A. Reed and a very special brother in law Arnold Munn.
Cora also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, cousins and was loved by many others.
Private Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 12 pm at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery. An hour of Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 am until the time of the Private service. Masks are required at all times.
