Obituary of John J. Skorupski

John (Jack) Joseph Skorupski, 81, passed away on Wednesday, November 18th after a brave battle with cancer. Jack was the son of the late Viola (Skorupski), Jeannin and John Skorupski. He was born in Milford, Ct on March 2, 1939, but was a lifelong resident of Beacon Falls. He graduated from Naugatuck High School in 1957. He attended Danbury State Teachers College, Jack worked in banking for much of his life. His work places included New Haven Savings & Loan, Permanent Savings and Loan, and Clayton National Bank before retiring from the Town of Beacon Fall where he worked in the accounting department. One of the places he truly loved accounting for was the Southbury Flower Shop where he made many lifelong friends. Jack was social by nature and was always known to be the life of the party. His storytelling skills really drew in a crowd. He also loved to prepare food for holidays and gatherings at friends homes. He loved vacations with family and friends, Some that he talked about for years, were trips to Disney, weekends in Vermont, summers in RI, and many cruises. Jack was a lifelong bargain hunter, always looking for the deal of the century and never afraid to let you know when he got a great find. Friends often recruited him when they needed a personal shopper. He will be remembered for his generosity towards others, his enthusiastic spirit and his snappy outfits. He leaves behind his wife Carol (LaVoie) Skorupski, his daughter Cheryl (Skorupski) O'Connor and her husband Emmett, and his two beautiful grandchildren Timothy and Kyla, who were the joy of his life. His brother -in-law Raymond and Gail LaVoie and was predeased by his brother-in-law John LaVoie. He leaves behind many special family and friends. A special thanks to those who surrounded him with love during his illness.
