Obituary of Joyce Blinstrubas

Joyce (Knapp) Blinstrubas, 88, of Prospect, passed away on Thursday July 27, 2017 after a brief illness, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Edmund J. Blinstrubas.

 

She was born in Waterbury on October 17, 1928, daughter of the late Clayton and Nina (Wilkins) Knapp. Prior to her retirement she worked as a Legal Assistant for Traurig and Traurig. Over the years, she was very active in the community by serving as President of the Friends of the Prospect Public Library, President and Coach of the Girls Softball League, Council Member of Zion Lutheran Church, Girl Scout Leader, President of the St. Joseph Women's Bowling League, and member of "Happy Hookers" Crochet/Knitting Club. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

 

Joyce is survived by two daughters: Sandra Schumann and her husband Chuck of Anchorage, Alaska and Alaine Caterino and her husband Mark of Prospect, a son: Peter Blinstrubas and his wife Katherine of Prospect, seven grandchildren: Matthew, Samuel, Thomas and James Blinstrubas, Alexander Schumann and Andria and Aliza Caterino, a great granddaughter Ava Blinstrubas, a brother Robert Knapp of Prospect, along with several nieces and nephews.

 

The Funeral will be held on Monday July 31, 2017 at 10:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 1555 Hamilton Avenue, Waterbury. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 6-8 pm at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect.
