Obituary of Robert George Cipriano

Former Prospect Town Councilman

 

PROSPECT - Mr. Robert George Cipriano, 86, passed away peacefully Sept. 11, 2017 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Nancy (Spellman) Cipriano.

 

Robert was born August 29, 1931 at St. Mary's Hospital the son of late George and Helen (O'Connor) Cipriano. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, CT School of Electronics and Santa Monica City College, CA. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War serving with the Strategic Air Command in England. He owned and operated Cipriano HVAC Services for more than 35 years. He was very active in the Prospect politics having served on the Prospect Town Council and Board of Education.

 

He was a beloved father to Karen Day and husband Garrett of Kennewick, WA, Bobbie Bowman of Farmington, Linda Delgado of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Mark Cipriano and wife Sandra of Wolcott and Donald Cipriano of Prospect. The joys of his life were his grandchildren Ted Bowman of Stockholm, Sweden, Elizabeth Bowman of Plymouth, MA, Bobby and Cody Delgado of Tallahassee FL, Alexis Day of Kennewick, WA, Christopher Cipriano of West Hartford, Caitlin Cipriano of Boston, MA, and Mason Cipriano of Wolcott, a great grandson Charlie Dean of Plymouth, MA. He is also survived by his loving brother Richard Cipriano and wife Cynthia, his sisters-in-law Carol Kemp and Barbara Regan, along with many nieces and nephews.

 

His great loves were watching his grandchildren playing sports, being with friends and family, playing golf and enjoyed going to the casino.

 

The funeral will be held at 10 am on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are from 6-8 pm on Friday Sept. 15, 2017 at the funeral home.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Robert's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
