Obituary of Barbara Ann Borbas

Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend

     PROSPECT - Barbara A. (Hayes) Borbas, 82, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Yale New Haven Hospital.  She was the wife of James S. Borbas for 62 years.

 

     Barbara was born on February 8, 1935 in Boswell, PA. She was a Naugatuck High School graduate, class of 1952. She was a long-time resident of Prospect for 57 years, where she was actively involved in St. Anthony’s Church and the Ladies Guild, and the Prospect Senior Center including their Happy Hookers crochet club.  She was an active member of the Naugatuck YMCA’s Water Lilies for many years.  With her husband, she was a member of the CT Early Ford V8 Club and CT Historical Auto Society, where they enjoyed many club and touring events.

 

     In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her children, daughter Patricia Brenna and husband Tom, son James Borbas Jr., and son Peter Borbas and wife Becky.  She also leaves behind six grandchildren, three sisters and three brothers, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister and three brothers.

 

     Barbara will always be remembered for being the best and most caring wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She generously brought home baked goods wherever she went, which were enjoyed and appreciated by all.

 

     Special thanks to the medical staff in the critical care units at both the Waterbury and Yale New Haven Hospitals.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at St. Anthony Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church.  Burial will be at Prospect Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Naugatuck YMCA, 284 Church Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
