Obituary of Lorraine Roy

Lorraine (Chapman) Roy, 88, of Prospect, passed away peacefully at home on December 11, 2017. She was the wife of the late Harold W. Roy, Jr.

She was born in Waterbury on October 13, 1929 daughter of the late Harold and Lecella (Penney) Chapman. Lorraine belonged to the Red Hat Society and was a member of the Prospect Congregational Church. She was also very active with the Prospect Senior Center and was a member of their Song Birds. In their earlier years, she and her husband formed the group Halo Rounds known for Round Dancing. They not only hosted events but also taught many couples. She had a great love for animals and would always help any stray in need.

Lorraine is survived by her children; Deborah Morin and husband Claude of FL, Linda Goslin of Meriden, Cindy Doody of GA, Cathy Yarborough and husband Ed of CA, and Harold “Butchie” W. Roy, III and wife Dorina “Chickie” of NH. She also leaves her sisters Edna Violet of FL and Peggy Smith of CA, 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, two sisters, and a grandchild.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 1:00-5:00 pm on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the Four Points by Sheraton Meriden, 275 Research Parkway, Meriden. Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect is assisting the family with arrangements.
