Obituary of Betty Neal

Betty Dybeck Neal, 93, of Middlebury, surrounded by her family, passed away peacefully at home on February 9, 2018. She was the loving wife of the late Kenneth Neal for 60 years.

She was born in Gardner, MA, on January 10, 1925 the daughter of the late Henning and Ruth (Boval) Dybeck. Prior to her retirement, Betty was a Branch Manager for Colonial Bank in Southbury. She and her husband loved to square dance and were members of the Pioneer Squares of Prospect for over 20 years. She was also a member of the Middlebury Congregational Church. Betty and Ken bought their summer home on Highland Lake in Winsted and enjoyed it for over 40 years. They also loved to play cards with their friends on a weekly basis.

Betty is survived by her children Nancy (Ernie) DeFrancesco of Cheshire, Wendy (Edmund) Furs of Middlebury, Peggy (DAK) Neal of Winsted, and Dennis Neal of Middlebury; six grandchildren Tracy and Heather Hunihan, Kristen and Eric Furs, and Daniel and Monika Neal; four great grandchildren Elian, Kyla, Harper, and Ruben Furs; a sister Lois Davidowicz of AZ; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter Diane Elizabeth Neal, a sister Olive and a brother Henry.

The family would like to thank the hospice staff from Hartford Healthcare at Home especially Kathy and Marlene for all the special care that Mom received.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Betty's home at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 17, 2018. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd., Prospect is assisting the family with arrangements.
