Obituary of William F. Luschenat

William Frederick "Bill" Luschenat, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at home. He was the devoted husband of Anna Marie (Semrow) Luschenat for over 70 years.

Bill was born May 30, 1924 in Union City, son of the late Frederick "Otto" and Alice (Kleps) Luschenat. He was a graduate of Naugatuck High School. He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II, was stationed on the USS Ashland LSD-1 and also received the Purple Heart after being wounded at Kwajalein. Bill worked for SNET, as a lineman and a dispatcher, for 37 years. To Bill, family was the most important thing in his life. He was a founding coach in the Prospect Little League, loved gardening, was an insatiable reader and an avid Yankees and UCONN women's basketball fan.

Besides his wife Anna, he leaves behind his sons Scott Luschenat of Downingtown, PA, Jeffrey Luschenat and wife Theresa of Terryville and Peter Luschenat of Middletown; seven grandchildren Shawn Luschenat of Downingtown, PA, Morgan Luschenat of Germantown, MD; Sam Meagher-Harrelson of Southington, Max Meagher-Harrelson of Bristol, Monique Douty and husband Matthew Douty Sr., of Bristol, Melissa Luschenat of Norwich, Michael Luschenat of Branford; five great-grandchildren Camden and Aubrey Corey, Matthew Jr., Emma and Megan Douty; along with several nieces and nephews. He also leaves a sister-in-law Ruth "Tootsie" Glick of Naugatuck.

Bill was predeceased by two daughters Gail Marie Luschenat and Nancy Ann Luschenat; a sister Ruth and husband Frederick Alexander; along with many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and a daughter-in-law, Lynn Luschenat.

The funeral will be at 9:30 am on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd. Prospect. Burial with military honors will follow at Prospect Cemetery, 1 Union City Rd. Prospect. There are no calling hours.
