Obituary of Julius J. DelMonte

Julius J. DelMonte, 96, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2018. He was the loving husband of Barbara (Alexander) DelMonte for over 58 years. He was born in Chicago, IL on June 12, 1921 son of the late Tony and Mary (Cervone) DelMonte. After high school he joined the Army and served during WW II. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Fork Lift Operator for Continental Can and then became a custodian for Stagg High School. After retirement he moved to CT to be with his daughter. He was a lifelong diehard Chicago Cubs fan and was fortunate enough to see them win the World Series. Besides his wife, Julius is survived by his children Laura Esmail of Waterbury, Mary Kimmerly DelMonte of IL, Anthony DelMonte and wife Joyce Worth, IL and Joseph DelMonte and wife Norine of Cape Coral, FL. He also leaves a daughter in law Rita DelMonte of Lombard, IL, many grandchildren, several great children, a great great grandchild, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Albert DelMonte, a brother Michael and six sisters Adeline "Tillie", Teresa, Carmella "Millie", Rosie, Josephine, and Anne. A special thanks to Dr. Wadia, palliative care team Sarah, Tracy and Laura, and the home hospice nurses Doris and Alicia for all the great care that Julius received from them. All services and burial will be held at a later time in his home state of Illinois. Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect is assisting the family with arrangements.
