Obituary of Rita May LaRovera
Rita May LaRovera, 75, of Naugatuck, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late William LaRovera.
She was born on May 12, 1942 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Herbert and Margaret (Stanton) Hill. Early in her career she work as a CNA at Park Manor in Waterbury. She worked and helped manage Terry's Farm Market in Naugatuck which inspired her to open her own business, Rita's Farm Market in Shelton. Rita's favorite hobby was gardening, also enjoying sewing, playing cards, and going to the casino. Spending time with her family and gathering with her grammar school friends at the cottage down on the river, were her most cherished memories. Rita's sense of humor and sassiness will be remembered by all.
Rita is survived by her children Carol (Raymond) Smith of Woodbury, Herbert Grandpré of Naugatuck, Jeffrey Grandpré of Naugatuck, and Lisa (Vincent) Ford of Naugatuck. She also leaves six grandchildren; Raymond (Colleen) Smith, Amy (Robert) Rentz, Ashley Ford, Kaitlyn Smith, Ryan (Polly) Ford, and Kaylea Grandpré, a great grandson Raymond Smith IV, her beloved sister Patricia (Ronald) Turmel of Oxford, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters Margaret Pelkey and Wendy Jennetty.
Rita fought her illness for many years, and a special thank you goes to Lisa and Vincent for taking her in and helping during her last years and also to her friend and care giver Maria.
The Funeral will be held at 12 pm on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd, Prospect. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the service.
