Obituary of Evelynee (Riddick) McLaren

Mrs. Evelynee (Riddick) McLaren, age 88 of Waterbury entered eternal rest on Friday May 11, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her loving Family.  She was the widow of Levi McLaren.

Mrs. McLaren was born May 25, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY daughter of the late William H. and Ruth (Hinton) Riddick.  She retired in 2007 after 33 years from N.O.W., Inc. Community Services. 

Mrs. McLaren was a long time member of Zion Baptist Church where she was a part of The Willing Worker, Nurse’s Aide Unit, a member of the P.T.A., Tribal Outreach, Auditing Committee and a long time member of the Kitchen Ministry, which she loved, former member of the Boy Scout Council, and the Summer Programs, Cub Scout Den Mother of Pack 333, former Member of the P.T.A. at Walsh Grammar School, Board Member of Need Action Credit Union, served on the Board of the Staywell Health Center and Planned Parenthood.

Mrs. McLaren is survived by her son John Bruce Levett (Rosemarie) of Waterbury, two sisters: Barbara Riddick of Waterbury and Jean Gramby Nurse of GA, two brothers; William H. Riddick of GA and Henry B. Riddick of Waterbury, six Grandchildren; Harroll J. Curry, Jr.(Tracy), Ryan E. Curry, Ivory C. Lynch (Steven), Latanya Levett Bailey (Bernard), Bruce L. Levett, Jalisa M. Levett and several Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends.

Mrs. McLaren was predeceased by her daughter Sheila Marie Curry. 

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 9:00 A.M. at Zion Baptist Church, 137 Pearl Street, Waterbury. Calling hours will be from 8:00 A.M. until time of the Service.   Burial will be at New Pine Grove Cemetery.  The family has selected James R. Sanders, Funeral Director of Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect to handle the arrangements.
