Obituary of Donna Smedes

Donna (Sambuco) Smedes, 67, of Prospect, surrounded by her family passed away on July 12, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the loving wife of Roland “Jim” Smedes for over 40 years.

She was born on March 4, 1951 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Felix and Olga (Daddona) Sambuco. Prior to her retirement she was the co-owner of Smedes Real Estate.

Besides her husband, Donna is survived by a daughter Deidre Hernandez and husband Daniel of Glastonbury and their daughter Delia; sisters Dori Hassinger and husband Gary of Wolcott and Debbie Sambuco of Waterbury; a brother Felix Sambuco and wife Catherine of Prospect, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother Nicholas Sambuco.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. A calling hour will be held from 10:30 am until the time of the service.

The family would like to thank all the medical staff as well as all her friends and family for all the love and support they received during this journey.
