Obituary of William "Bill" Geary

William “Bill” Geary, 84, of Prospect, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 6, 2018. He was the loving husband of Cecelia “Rose” (Birkenberger) Geary for 61 years.

He was born on February 26, 1934 in Poughkeepsie, NY, son of the late George and Matilda (Terwilliger) Geary. Bill proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was a heavy equipment diesel mechanic. In his spare time he loved traveling with his wife and woodworking.

Besides his wife, Bill is survived by his daughters Darlene Dullard and husband Kelly of Waterbury, Debra Strobel and husband William, Sr. of Elburn, IL and Judith Geary of Waterbury. He also leaves four grandchildren Brittany Carlson and husband Nicholas, Kelly Dullard, William Strobel, Jr. and wife Tabitha, and Hannah Picinich and husband Mark and two great grandchildren Evelyn and Amelia. Bill is also survived by two brothers Robert Geary and wife Judith of Wolcott and John “Jack” Geary and wife Patricia of Prospect, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother Richard Geary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Friday, August 10, 2018 at St. Anthony Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Prospect Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 6 pm at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect.
