Obituary of Joseph F. Brett, Jr.

Joseph F. Brett, 90, died peacefully on October 29 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving children. Joe was a life-time resident of Waterbury and lived for over 60 years in the house he built for his family.

The first-born son of Joseph F. Brett and Mary Louise (Kirschner), Joe was born on June 21, 1928. He was greeted in heaven by his soul-mate and wife of 55 years Lucille (Tutolo). Together they raised four children: Robert Brett, Mary Louise Bivona, Kathy (Dan) Callahan, and Rosemarie Murray. He also dearly adored his grandchildren: Kathleen Bivona (Adam), Jackie (Chris) Corcoran, Joseph Bivona (Kaleigh), William Bivona (Laura), Carolyn Callahan, and Victoria Callahan. He was close with his siblings: Erma (Carlo) Bonvissuto and Richard (Jeanne) Brett as well as his in-laws Lenny (Marie) Tutolo and Robert Tutolo, and many nieces and nephews. He was reunited in heaven with Lucille, son-in-law Biff Bivona, sister Rita Coretto, sister-in-law Jennie Sandin and brother-in-law Frank Tutolo.

Joe’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. His world revolved around them, making him the true definition of a family man.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Saturday, November 3 at Sts Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd., Waterbury. Burial will be at Mt Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. There are no calling hours. Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd, Prospect is assisting the family with arrangements.
