Obituary of Julia (West) Nixon

Julia (West) Nixon, 83, of Waterbury, passed away on November 24, 2018 at Vitas at St. Mary’s.

She was born on January 1, 1934, in Augusta, GA, daughter of the late Johnnie T. West and Daisy Williams. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the Waterbury Company. In her spare time she loved to cook and attend outings. Her greatest love was for her family.

Julia is survived by a daughter Barbara (Kinnel) Streeter of Waterbury, three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. She also leaves four sisters Gloria Shanks of GA, Diane (Joseph) Robinson of GA, Carolyn (David) Dunbar of SC, and Joanne Lewis of Waterbury and three brothers Thomas Lewis of Waterbury, Bobby West and Tommy West both of GA.

She was predeceased by a daughter Daisy Kinnel, a sister Wilhelmina Jackson and two brothers John West and Albert Lewis.

The funeral will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect. Burial will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are from 9 am until the time of the service. Family will receive friends between 9:30 and 10 am at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home. James R. Sanders, Funeral Director.
