Obituary of Rev. Alfred J. Warren

Reverend Alfred Jerome Warren Sr., 78, of Waterbury passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 10, 2018 at the West Haven VA.  He was the devoted husband of Lucy J. (Powell) Warren for over 46 years.

 

He was born in St. Stephens, South Carolina a son of the late Isaiah and Cecelia (Region) Warren.Rev. Warren earned his Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from The Mattatuck Community College.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963-1965 in Btry C 2s Msl Bn 56th Arty USARSEVEN. After his retirement from the US Postal Service in 2005 after 43 years of dedication. Rev. Warren was ordained into ministry on July 25th, 1980 and has faithfully served as Pastor of The New Deliverance Church of God in Christ of Waterbury for the past seventeen years. 

 

Reverend Warren held the following offices in the Connecticut First Jurisdiction; Administrative Assistant, Superintendent of the Headquarters District of COGIC, State Sunday School Superintendent and was a member of the Jurisdictional Ordination Board.

 

Reverend Warren is survived by his loving wife Lucy of 46 years, his daughters Lisa (Tony) Murray of Waterbury, Michele Warren of Wolcott, Jennifer Warren of Wolcott, and NicolNovember Warren of Wolcott, his sons Alfred J. (Leto) Warren Jr of Washington state, David Warren of West Haven, and Brian (Jen) Warren of Southington, a brother Frank Bryant of Washington DC, a sister Josephine W. Brown of Georgia, fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

 

The Reverend A. Warren was predeceased by a daughter Karen Warren-Bryant and a son Mark A. Warren, brothers Willie “June” Warren, Booker T. “Rainie” Warren and a sister Eloise Warren Franklin.

A funeral service will be held on Monday December 17th at the New Deliverance Church of God in Christ, 25 Crown St. Waterbury at 10 am.  Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Edgewood Cemetery Boundline Road, Wolcott.  A calling hour will be held from 9 am until the time of the service.  On Sunday December 16th the family will be receiving friends from 2pm until 5pm at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd. Prospect.  Prospect Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements under the direction of James R. Sanders Funeral Director
