Obituary of John C. Tietjen

John Charles Tietjen, 76, of Prospect and formerly Huntington, NY, passed away on December 24, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of Ann (Weymar) Tietjen.

He was born on June 23, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY son of the late Charles and Florence Tietjen. Prior to his retirement, John was the Chairman of the Chemistry Department at Queensborough Community College. His greatest passion was coaching soccer and in his later years playing Bridge.

Besides his wife, John is survived by his children John Tietjen Jr. and wife Joan Anderson of Albany, NY, Greg Tietjen and wife Korey of Water Mill, NY, Jennifer Prozzo and husband Darren of Southington, and Margaret Rodriguez and husband Casey of Glastonbury, nine grandchildren Daniel, Brian, Andrew, Riley, Luke, Lucy, Maya, Tanner and Tavin. He also leaves a sister Carol Tietjen Chalmers of Honesdale, PA along with several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother George Tietjen.

Calling hours are from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect. Burial is at the convenience of the family.
