Obituary of Rosemary Fitzgerald Doyle

Rosemary Fitzgerald Doyle ,91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Wolcott View Manor.  She was the widow of Frank “Bud” Doyle with whom she enjoyed a long and loving marriage of over 60 years at their homestead in Prospect, CT.

Rosie was born in New York, NY on September 15, 1927, daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Reardon) Fitzgerald.  Rosie moved to Prospect in July 1948 after her marriage to Bud and began teaching first grade at Darcy School in Cheshire.  While raising their five children and working with her husband to run their family business, Doyle’s Double A Farm, she attended Graduate School and received her Masters Degree in Reading Instruction. She retired from Region 16 in 1989 after a 35 year teaching career where she made friendships she cherished throughout her life.

She leaves her five children; Marian (James) Levine, Margaret Seabrooke, Marjorie (Kim) Devaney, Peter Doyle (Annie Sullivan) & James (Robin) Doyle, grandchildren; Jamie Davis, Brian (Olga) Levine, Katherine (David) Stacy, Michael Seabrooke, Patrick (Elizabeth) Devaney, Sean Devaney, Colin Devaney (Ally Colberg), Ryan (Courtney) Doyle, & Megan (Matthew) Bjorkman, great-grandchildren; Nate Davis, Charlotte Davis, James Levine, Evan Stacy, Easton Stacy, & Emery Stacy to cherish her memory.  In addition, the Doyle family owes their love and gratitude to their friend Laurie Herbort whose support and dedication to Rosie has made her an honorary and forever sixth sibling to the Doyle clan.

Rosie adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and relished hearing about all their activities especially enjoying seeing pictures of their many adventures.  No visit to Grandma’s house was complete without her sharing some new recipe she tried after watching the Cooking Channel. Rosie also had an amazing artistic and creative side that included painting murals, and teaching ceramics out of her home, which she signed ROSEBUD.  Even into her later years Rosie loved a good card game and never failed to take home the prize with her stellar vocabulary.

The Doyle family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Wolcott View Manor for their loving and compassionate care of their mother during her brief illness.
