Obituary of Derek T. Johnson, Sr.

Derek T. Johnson Sr, 48, of Vernon, entered into eternal rest on January 27, 2019.

He was born on February 16, 1970 in Waterbury, Connecticut a son to the late Margo E.  (Green) Johnson.

Derek was educated in the Waterbury Public School System. He was a charmer and a joy to be around. He will be greatly missed by the people who lives he touched.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Derek T. Johnson of Waterbury and Daylan (Dash) Johnson of Vernon;  two daughters, Sofia Fonseca of Waterbury and Daylisha Johnson of Vernon;  one sister, Monica Johnson of Waterbury; 3 Brothers, Brian (Michele) Green of Waterbury and twins Kevin Johnson of Waterbury and Kyle Johnson of Seymour; one Aunt, Jennifer Green of West Haven;  and two uncles, Richard Green of Williamsburg, VA and Robert Green of West Haven; Special Cousins, Sonjia and Nakia Gomes of Waterbury, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Derek also leaves behind his special friend, Tracey Tantimonico of Derby and his long-time childhood friend, Richard Perreault of Waterbury.

Along with his mother he was predeceased by his grandparents, Madeline (Carter) Green, Horace Green and Betty Green; his great-grandmother, Ida Mae Green; a brother, Keith Green; two aunts, Gwendolyn Green and Brenda Yates; two uncles, Edward Green and Sam Bonds; great-aunt, Beulah Mae Jenkins, nephew,  Brian Keith Green “BK”; and cousins, Annette Petteway-Young and Troy Caldwell.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11:00 am  at The Mount Zion Church of Christ, 34 Ward Street, Waterbury, CT 06708. James R. Sanders, Funeral Director.
