Obituary of Aldea Santoro

Aldea Santoro, 86, passed away peacefully at her home on January 31, 2019. She was the loving wife of the late Michael L. Santoro.

Aldea was born in Waterbury, on November 27, 1932, to the late Raoul and Maria (Cote) Laliberte.

Having graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School in 1950, Aldea worked for both Uniroyal Inc. and Lakewood Metal until her retirement. She enjoyed being a member of the Red Hats Society, Prospect Senior Center and was a weekly parishioner at St Anthony’s Church.

Aldea loved cooking, trips to the casino, playing cards with her sisters and spending vacation time in Clinton. She was an avid Boston Red Sox and UConn Women’s Basketball fan, with their games always on in her home.

Aldea was a devoted mother and grandmother, spending much of her retirement enjoying time with her children and grandchildren. She loved attending their sporting and school events.

Aldea leaves behind her three daughters Michele (Gregory) Knapp of Prospect, Lisa (Edmund) Funaro Jr. of Killingworth, and Patricia (James) Goggins of Cheshire and son Domenic of Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; grandchildren Katrina (Dave), Greg (Tina), Michael, Danielle, Jacqueline (Heath), Christopher, Matthew (Brianna), Jason, and Angelo; great-grandchildren Gregory Holland and James Thomas; sisters Alice Laliberte, Sr. Fernande Laliberte, and Sr. Marie Gertrude and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by siblings Jean Laliberte, Muriel Carpentier, Laurianne Sharkis, Germain Laliberte, Henry Laliberte, Marcel Laliberte and Gertrude Rainville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 am on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at St. Anthony Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Burial will be at St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm on Monday at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect.
