Obituary of Janice M. Olear

Janice M. Olear ,75, of Waterbury passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital on February 8, 2019.  She was born September 25, 1943 in North Adams Mass.,  the  daughter of the late Peter and Emily (Ferris) Olear .

 

Janice was very artistically inclined, her talents included designing clothes, working with pastels and pencil of women’s fashion.  She   volunteered her time at The Silas Bronson Library of Waterbury, booking art shows.  She loved to sing and dance, particularly modern dance. Janice had a beautiful soprano voice and was tutored by Richard DeRosa and Mr. Ralph in opera.  She worked for many years for the Beth El Synagogue as the executive assistant to the Rabbi. 

 

Janice is survived by her brothers Theodore (Theresa) of Southington, William (Lynn), of Surprise Arizona, and Michael of Waterbury, a niece Elizabeth of West Haven and many cousins.

 

She was predeceased by a nephew Michael William Olear.

 

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday February 21, 2019 at 10 am at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home 72 Waterbury Rd. Prospect.  Burial will be at a later date at St. Mary’s Orthodox Cemetery, Waterbury.  Calling hours will be held Wednesday February 20, 2019 from 5 to 7pm.
