Obituary of William G. Phelan
William G. Phelan, 76, of Thomaston, passed away on March 31, 2019 at home. He was the loving husband of Patricia (Phinney) Phelan. He was born on October 8, 1942 in Norwalk, son of the late Stuart and Janice (Ireland) Phelan. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an engineer for Perkin Elmer, Hughes Danbury Optical Systems and Silicon Valley Lithography Systems.
Besides his wife, Bill is survived by his daughters, Barbara Fasulo of Cromwell, Jillian Maynard of Spring Lake, Michigan and Lisa Serenson of Southington, a stepson, Will Pratt of Portland, Maine, a brother, Robert Phelan and a former wife, Vicki Savastio of Southbury. He leaves eight grandchildren, Amanda, Brittany, Michael, Elden, Frank, Ellen, Shannon and Madelyn, a great grandchild, Lilly, along with nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen Phelan, a previous wife, Judith French and a brother, Stuart Phelan.
Bill was much loved by those who knew him. He had many interests but his first priority was always being with family and friends. He was friendly to all and could connect with anyone. He will especially be remembered for his infectious laugh which could make anyone smile.
He loved being outside and hiked and backpacked in many beautiful places.
A memorial service is being planned for May 11, 2019 at St. Peter’s Trinity Church, 160 Main Street, Thomaston, CT at 2:00 p.m. Please check the website for updates. Prospect Memorial Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
