Obituary of Robert G. Luddy, Sr.

Robert "Bob" G. Luddy, Sr., 95, of Prospect, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019 at home. He was the husband of the late Mary C. (Dupre) Luddy for over 59 years.

He was born on June 29, 1923 in Waterbury, son of the late Jeremiah and Anna (Duffy) Luddy. He was a graduate of Leavenworth H.S., class of 1941. Bob served in the Army Air Corps, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a Waist Gunner on a B-24 aircraft during WWII, flying 34 missions over Europe. Prior to his retirement, Bob worked as a Supervisor for SNET for over 30 years.

His greatest joy was being with his family, expecially his adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his children Barbara Sullivan and husband Edmund of Waterbury and Robert G. Luddy, Jr. and wife Margaret of Prospect, a brother John “Jack” Luddy and wife Joyce of N. Branford. He also leaves seven grandchildren Kelly and Mark Woodbridge; Adam and Kiel Stango; Christina and Carolyn Luddy; and Shannon Sullivan, and four great grandchildren Hayden, Katelyn, Ellison and Greyson, sons-in law James Stango and Ronald Woodbridge, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two daughters Kathleen Stango and Susan Woodbridge and two brothers Donald and Gerald Luddy.

The family wishes to thank Yvonne Kelly for the excellent care she provided to him. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at St. Anthony Church, 4 Union City Rd., Prospect. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Prospect Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Saturday from 9:30 am – 10:30 am at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd., Prospect.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Anthony Church, , 4 Union City Rd., Prospect, CT 06712.
