Obituary of Margaret M. Satkunas

Margaret M Satkunas, 96, of Prospect, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 4, 2019 at The Glendale Health Center. She was the widow of Stanley V. Satkunas. Margaret was born May 9, 1923 in Waterbury Connecticut, daughter of the late Samuel and Lillian (Frances) Thomas. Margaret was a Graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School. She retired as an Office Manager from Uniroyal, Inc. After retirement, Margaret moved to Florida and volunteered her time as a tour guide for the Thomas Edison Museum, enjoyed golf and the water. Margaret moved back to Connecticut to spend her golden years with family. The Satkunas family has been blessed to have her as Matriarch of their five generations and will truly miss her. Margaret is survived by her sons Stephen of Florida, Thomas (Eileen) of Prospect and John of Naugatuck, her daughter Elizabeth McDonnell of Prospect, fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley, her daughter Margaret Dixon and son Stanley, her brothers; Frederick and Edmond Thomas and a sister Julie Szantyr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday June 10, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Everyone is asked to please meet at the Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 2423 East Main Street, Waterbury. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect.
