Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother & sister

Dorothy Louise King, 80, of Waterbury passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.  She was the beloved wife of the late William M. King.

Ms. King was born in Ahoskie, NC on August 30, 1938, daughter of the late Ernest Outlaw and Nannie Mae Flood Outlaw Anthony. She was a homemaker.  She relocated from Virginia to Connecticut in April 1991.  She was a former member of Christ CME Church in Waterbury.  In November 2006, she joined Long Hill Bible Church in Waterbury under the leadership of former Pastor Eugene Davis and Current Pastor Rodney D. Wade.

She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also loved word search puzzles, drawing, coloring, quilting and taking long rides in the car.

She leaves two sons, Garry D. King of Hampton, Va. and William L. King of Newport News, Va.; five daughters, Sylvia A. (Guerry) Morgan; Joyce E. King and Lori A. King all of Waterbury; Bertha L. King of Hampton, VA and Dianne King of Norfolk, VA; 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, four sisters, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by a son, Nathaniel King, a sister and two brothers.

The family is appreciative of the special care given to her by all including Green Home Care, Hartford Healthcare at home and Ms. King’s grandson, Xavier J. King of Texas.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12pm on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Long Hill Bible Church, 131 Garden Circle, Waterbury with Pastor Rodney D. Wade officiating. The King family is receiving services of comfort by the staff at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home with James R. Sanders Funeral Director.
