Obituary of Edward Cocchiola

Edward Cocchiola, 71, of Prospect, surrounded by his family passed away on August 26, 2019 at Yale New Haven Hospital.

He was born on November 12, 1947 son of the late Edward and Josephine (Romeo) Cocchiola. A native of Waterbury, Ed graduated from Southern Connecticut State University. His love for history and leadership abilities guided his way into the field of education. “Coach” was a dedicated teacher, administrator and mentor for the city of New Haven. Along with his passion for teaching Ed was a sports fanatic. He was always present and supportive at his children’s and students games. Ed’s big heart, personality and sense of humor made all that met him love him.

Ed is survived by two daughters Keri-Jo Cocchiola of New Haven and Dena Cocchiola of Peabody, MA, a son Tyler Cocchiola of Waterbury, two brothers Mark Cocchiola and Robert Cocchiola both of Waterbury, two nephews Colby and Cade Frodel of Eastham, MA and two grandsons Anthony and Dean Cocchiola. He also leaves his former wife Sherida A. Cocchiola of Prospect.

All services are private and at the convenience of the family.  Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd., Prospect is assisting the family with arrangements.
