Obituary of Ann M. Heneghan

Ann Marie Heneghan, 90 years young, of Prospect, CT, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 with family by her side.  She was born June 3, 1929 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to the late Thomas F. and Margaret (Lance) Sullivan. Ann moved to Milford, CT and graduated from Wepawaug (Milford) High School in 1947.  After high school graduation, she worked for Milford Rivet before meeting and marrying Joseph Heneghan in 1952. They settled in Sandy Hook, CT where they raised ten children.  After retirement, they moved to Cambridge, NY where they lived for 20 years before returning back to Connecticut.

 

Ann was married to her late husband Joseph for 57 years.  She is survived by 10 children, Joseph Heneghan, Jr., Kathleen (David) Blersch, Thomas (Stephanie) Heneghan, Michael (Dianne) Heneghan, Marguerite Heneghan, Kevin (Melissa) Heneghan, Joanne Silvestri (Gerard), Maureen Heneghan, Timothy (Angie) Heneghan, and Mary (Matthew) Romeo; a legacy of 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother, Ret. Major Joseph M. Sullivan, USAF, and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

 

She was predeceased by her sisters, Marguerite Heneghan and Mary Sullivan and a brother, Thomas Sullivan.

 

Nana will be remembered for her famous fried dough, her love of soap operas and her classic one liner – “it is what it is”.   She will be greatly missed for her motherly love, quick wit, and commitment to family.   Our hearts are warmed knowing that Nana and Pop are reunited in Heaven.

 

A private service is being held by the family.
