Obituary of Virginia Maccalous

Virginia Maccalous, 85, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the Village at East Farms. She was born in Winsted on March 26, 1934 daughter of the late Nicholas and Agnes (Lawson) Maccalous. Virginia served our country in the Air Force during the Korean War. Prior to her retirement, she was a teacher in Meriden at Maloney High School for over 20 years. She loved going to the horse races with her best friend, the late Anne Calo. Virginia is survived by a sister Roberta “Bobbie” Rategan of Waterbury and a brother David Maccalous of Bristol, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by a sister Beverly Langill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at St. Joseph Church, Oak St., Winsted. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial with full Military Honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Winsted. Calling hours will be from 6 pm to 7:30 pm on Monday, January 27, 2020 at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd, Prospect.
