Dianne, Darren, Doug and families,
How privileged we were to have Don as a brother-in-law ! He was always jolly, outgoing and quick with a joke. He really enjoyed life to the fullest. Have very fond memories of Don and Pappy sitting at the kitchen table eating 'cherry bombs'. What a sight - Don as red as a beet with sweat pouring down his face and telling Pappy that the peppers weren't hot. Quite a sight !! Rest assured that Don is finally at peace and sharing fond memories with the Bedard and Cormier clans. Our families have lost a great guy but heaven has gained an angel. May God have mercy on his soul and grant him eternal peace.

Another great moves on to a Bigger and Better Place.........Dad you will always be my best friend! The relationship you shared with mom and your 3 sons was second to none. You were always there to support and guide us through our journey in life. You worked 3 jobs to give all of us a better life but always managed to find that balance of family and work. As a family we never longed for anything and enjoyed so many great times together....whether it be fishing, golfing, playing cards, swimming in our pool(s), riding motorcycles, cutting and splitting 7 cords of wood (lol), or even just hanging out at our home having a family picnic.
You truly were a jack of all trades.......or at least you tried to be! Over our lifetime together my brothers and I learned so much from you, but most importantly you taught each of us the most valuable lessons in life.
1.) A man's handshake and his word still means something, you don't need a written contract.
2.) Honesty is the best policy......Its the ONLY Policy.
3.) Respect everyone, most importantly respect your elders.
4.) Integrity is about what you do when nobody is watching.
5.) Accountability is about holding yourself to the highest standard....."Just do the right thing"!
6.) The MOST IMPORTANT lesson of all was to LOVE.
- Your love for your wife (our mother) and your 3 sons was evident every single day! You shared that same love with your extended family and friends! You always taught us that in life........you receive more by giving, then you do from receiving.
You were the life of the party, quick witted, a true joker that ALWAYS made others smile and laugh. You'll never truly know the impact that you've had on my life. I am extremely proud, honored, and blessed to have you as a father. Sometimes when I act like you, my own wife and children will refer to me as "DON". This is one of the greatest honors that I could ever have. You will be forever in our hearts, I know that you are in a better place, now spending some long awaited quality time with your other son, our brother Donald. Rest in Peace you will always be my hero, father, and friend "Donnie-Boy".
Forever in My Heart!
Darren

Close family connections are a rarity these days; but the Cormiers were truly blessed when Don became part of our family 'way back when'. He and I became brothers-in-law in 1967; but as the years went by, Don became my 'brother' and my friend — and I will miss him. In the 1970s, we were pool-table partners on Monday nights at the VFW; and in short time, we became business partners. A few years later (along with our brother-in-law Stan) we were initiated into the Naugatuck Lodge of Elks, became a team on the Monday night setback league, and spent many enjoyable nights (along with Don's brother Frank) playing nickel-dime poker with the old-timers. And who could forget all the good times we had on Thursday nights at Amanda's Cafe — Don & Dianne, the Garfields, the Wests, the Winslows, and others who'd pop in from time to time.
Donald loved life — and he loved his family and friends. He was good-natured, easygoing, and generous to a fault. He enjoyed good food — be it a steak, a lobster roll, a plate of Blackie's hotdogs, or a home-cooked meal. He loved to fish, enjoying many a day with his father-in-law out on the Lu-Je-Di; and his backyard swimming pools were his pride & joy, which he always kept sparkling clean.
In short, Don was a good man — and a great friend to many.
To my sister and her sons & daughters-in-law and her grandchildren ... rest easy knowing that Don has left this world for a better one. His legacy will live on.
Rest in peace, my friend, and thanks for so many good laughs and memories. À bientôt.
Ron (and Val)

My thoughts and prayers for Don’s family. I had the pleasure of working with him for a short time in my brief second career as a realtor. He was a genuinely nice guy. We had great conversations and I consider him a great friend. Rest well Don. You will be missed.

Darren and Doug ~ I am sorry for the loss of your Father and send my sincere condolences. While there are no words that can heal or help ease your pain, think of your fondest memories and let your heart feel the smile you remember from that time, and maybe just a little it will help ease your hurt.
