Obituary of Donald W Bedard

Donald W. Bedard, Sr., 76, of Prospect, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 20, 2020. He was the loving husband of Dianne (Cormier) Bedard for 53 years. He was born on July 16, 1943 in Waterbury, son of the late Donat and Arline (Baribault) Bedard. He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement Donald worked for 45 years as a Realtor and was a member of the Waterbury Board of Realtors. He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church for 41 years and the Naugatuck Elks Lodge #967 for 39 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed his pool, his yard, food, fishing, golfing, motorcycle rides and playing cards but his main focus always centered on his family and friends. Besides his wife, Donald is survived by two sons Darren Bedard and wife Christine of Prospect and Douglas Bedard and wife Liz of Glastonbury, seven grandchildren David, Ashley Zilnicki (Dave), Alexandra, Austin, Natalie, Tori, Bennett and two great grandchildren, DJ and Aubrianna. He also leaves two brothers Peter Bedard and Francis Bedard (Joann) and two sisters Kathleen Michaud (John) and Dianne Lappin along with nieces, nephews, and many friends including close friends Nancy and Pete Garfield. He was predeceased by his son Donald W. Bedard, Jr. and his fiancé Michelle Godsil. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, June 26 at St. Anthony Church, 4 Union City Rd., Prospect. Burial with full Military Honors will follow at Mt Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Calling hours will be from 5- 8 pm on Thursday at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd., Prospect. The Elks will be provide a funeral ritual service at 6 pm.
