Obituary of John E. Stenson, Sr.

Waterbury – Mr. John E. Stenson, Sr. age 74, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2019 at Autumn Lake Convalescent Home surrounded by his loving sons.  He was the widower of Linda L. (Petty) Stenson.

He was born July 27, 1944 a son of the late John Henry and Lucille (Downing) Stenson.

John proudly served the  US Army where he received his Parachutist Badge.  He retired as the Event Coordinator for N.O.W. Inc.  John was a member of the Kellog Lodge # 5, the Ashanti Mens Club and also the Lions Club. 

He leaves to cherish his memory his sons; Marvin L. Stenson, Sr., John E. Stenson, Jr. and Shearon L. Stenson all of Waterbury and daughter; Tonya J. Stenson of GA sisters; Patrisha Savage of NY, Sweetie Adam, Estell Stinson and Angie Cooper all of Waterbury, brothers; Gregory Stenson of Prospect, Ronald Stenson of WA.  and 5 Grandchildren, 3 Great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his beloved wife and parents he was predeceased by his brother Bob Snell.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Zion Baptist Church, 137 Pearl St, Waterbury with Full Military Honors accorded at 4:15 pm.  Services are being handled by Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, James R. Sanders Funeral Director.
